Saltash were on the board next and with a well taken try from wing Will Morton and took a 7-5 lead with the conversion from scrum half Kieran Down.
As the half wore on, the Ashes scored once more through Morton to take a 12-5 lead in at the break.
Welly came out strongly for the second half and capitalised on Saltash errors to score 2 tries through number 8 Kitto, both converted by full back Rob Hooper to take the lead at 12-19.
The Wellington pack had taken control of the game and it wasn’t long before they extended their lead with a try from flanker Liam Phillips to extend the lead to 12-24.
Saltash came back into the game with a third Morton try, converted by Down, although it was the visitors who had the final say through replacement Josh Hancock to take the maximum league points, final score Saltash 19 pts Wellington 29 pts.
